Membership plus additional Contribution Online

Does anyone know of a good way to collect additional contributions when members are joining or renewing.  We want to distinguish the membership dues from the contribution in the contributions module.  Basically, we want them to be able to select their membership type and add more as a separate contribution from one screen.  Anyone done this or know a good way?

In the "Membership Settings" form for you online contribution page configuration - check Separate Membership Payment. And make sure you have Contribution Amounts Section enabled checked in the "Contribution Amounts" configuration form. This will give your users the ability to enter an additional contribution - and will result in 2 separate contribution records.
