Upgrading from Civispace&Civicrm 1.6 -> 2.0 - a little advice?
August 10, 2008, 11:59:14 pm
Hi All,
been off on other projects, but finally decided to come back and cleanup a couple of old projects, and maybe start a few new ones.

I have an install of Civispace (drupal 4.7) & Civicrm 1.6, and am looking to do an upgrade to civicrm 2.0/drupal 6. Have already searched the forums and the wiki, but the info I'm looking for is a bit thin on the ground.

The problem is, CS and drupal installs use different table prefixes. I know i can manually bring out all the data and put it into a clean install, but I don't want to chance corrupting via incompatible or missing fields & tables

Has anyone created or knows of an SQL updater to bring a CS install back to a normal civicrm install?
Also, if this question should be on another forum, please point me in the right direction.

many thanks in advance, Dan

Sorry I can't help on the CiviSpace part. But wanted to mention two things to keep in mind. I myself am just finishing an upgrade from 1.8php4 to 2.0php5

CiviCRM won't support Drupal 6 till the next release 2.1 which is currently in alpha and sched to be released in late September(but the timing could of course change)

If you find a way to cleanly export and then reimport your data(which would be great) you might be able to jump to the current release, but otherwise be sure and do the all upgrade/conversion steps for all the intermediate releases.

Not sure I'm following... I'm guessing you have a drupal install + civicrm install in a single mysql table with prefixing differentiating the tables. You want to get them into two different DBs.

In phpmyadmin, select export. Select all the prefixed tables for civicrm or drupal. Then export. Do the export for the other.

Create two new dbs and import the two files into each.

I recently did an upgrade form a civicspace site to Drupal 5 + CiviCRM 2.0 and it went pretty smoothly, actually. Just follow the advice on the upgrade page (paying careful attention to making sure you do each successive .mysql upgrade script form the start version up to 1.9 before running the 2.0 upgrader.)
