Copy-and-paste from docx? XML, oh my!

Bug?

Here is my problem:

I was just walking our new Executive Director through doing a CiviMail mailing and ran into an issue:

When copying text from Word 2007 (which uses docx) into the HTML Editor in CiviMail, everything appears to have been copier perfectly until you move to the next step and preview the mailing, when the mailing is full of XML gibberish.

Other than using an intermediate step (like copying and pasting into notepad), any ideas on copying from Word and pasting into CiviMail without the XML markup?

What's your CiviCRM version ? This seems to be an editor issue..

Can you try to do the same on http://sandbox.civicrm.org/civicrm. It has "Paste from Word" option. This is part of CiviCRM v2.1

Hey Kurund - couldn't spot the "Paste from Word" option? Also not seeing the WYSIWYG editor on the Sandbox. Are they there? Is it me - or Safari or FF3?

peterd:

I am on FF3, there seems to be some issue with WYSIWYG editor on Safari, we will try to fix it before beta.

No probs - Lobo put me right, seems the editor hadn't been chosen in Settings. Is there now (in FF but not in Safari perhaps)

Meanwhile, where is the 'Paste from Word' option?

FCkEditor has "Paste from word" option. Check http://sandbox.civicrm.org/civicrm/event/add?action=add&reset=1

Any (easy?) way to strong-arm FCKeditor into my 2.0.6 install?

Can't upgrade to 2.1 yet b/c Drupal's Views module (and the gazillion modules that depend on it) aren't ready for Drupal 6.

Sigh...

views2 is in rc3 :) and i suspect cck and og are also at rc3

No easy way other than backporting what we have done for 2.1. I dont think its a trivial backport (its not too complex either)

Yeah, I spent many hours on a test upgrade when views was as RC2 and everything broke on the main site. I didn't even get a chance to try to upgrade to CiviCRM 2.1 and it wasn't worth my time to debug. I'll wait for a full release, then try again :)

dharmatech, thanks for the link. unfortunately, it looks to be beyond my proficiency. I'll wait until I can go a full upgrade :)
