Attachment to activity feature mangling file names
August 20, 2008, 10:29:40 am
Tested using the 2.1 sandbox.

1. Attach a file to an activity. Filename changes - note the alphanumeric gobbledygook rather than the underscores.
2. Try to open the attachment (using Firefox 3.1) - downloaded filetype can change to 'unknown'.

Examples:
"iGo Voucher.msg" changes to "liGo_Voucher_msg_547d44883be5cf5f48cfb1d1078f6445.unknown"

"alterations to vanilla install.odt" changes to "alterations_to_vanilla_install_odt_243af177e853faea1889849f5b9f.unknown.odt"

For group working we rely on M$Outlook, so it is useful to be able to attach emails in their original format.

Thanks!

You can edit the list of safe file extensions here:

http://sandbox.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/options/safe_file_extension?group=safe_file_extension&reset=1

We've kept the list small to prevent folks from uploading "bad" files to a server. The admin can change that list as they desire

I jsut added that menu item, so it will appear in the next alpha / beta release

Thanks Donald

Goobledygook still gets added to file name on download, but file name OK on browser screen, and more importantly, extension no longer mangled, so file can be launched OK on download. ;D

we need to add the 32character hash to prevent naming conflicts. 2.1 has addressed this issue and shows a clean file name
