2.1 Alpha 4 Install Failure
August 25, 2008, 12:47:26 pm
I attempted installation on a fairly new, clean testing install of Drupal 6.4 with very few other modules site hosted in a shared environment.  Strictly speaking, this site is a Drupal multi-site setup, but the multi-site is nominal (again, testing).  Here's the step-by-step.

Followed directions here:
http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Install+2.1+for+Drupal
(incidentally,

Setup database settings on the installer page, got the green light, turned on Sample Data, and clicked install.  The page switched to a while page telling me this might take a few minutes, but completed too quickly for me to read and landed back on the home page.

At this point I turned off write access to the sites/default directory.  And went to the Admin > Modules to turn on Civi.  (Incidentally, the documentation is a little off here -- It says 'CiviCRM is listed under "Other"', but it is instead listed under CiviCRM.)  I saved the modules page and was given this:
Quote
Fatal error: Class 'CRM_Core_Permission' not found in /home/t4tcolor/public_html/sites/all/modules/civicrm/CRM/Core/Menu.php on line 425

Visiting the /admin page results in:
Quote
Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'CRM/Core/Menu.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/php52/pear') in /home/t4tcolor/public_html/sites/all/modules/civicrm/drupal/civicrm.module on line 735

The main page initial gave a white screen of death, but after deleting the DB and config and retrying, I now get this at the root as well.

The Civi DB has 113 tables, so it looks like it made it through that OK.  I'm not sure if I've made a mistake or if this has already been addressed, but I thought I'd pass it on.

That did it.  I did a search for my error but didn't find it.  Sorry for the repeat.

I'm guessing that bit of code will be added before release ;)

Hmm.  Well, almost.

After enabling CiviCRM, the blocks page displays four blocks without titles.  Enabling them shows that they are the Civi blocks (see attached jpg).  Also, Drupal is throwing these errors:
Quote
warning: preg_match() expects parameter 2 to be string, array given in /home/t4tcolor/public_html/includes/bootstrap.inc on line 723.
The errors cease when I disable CiviCRM, so it would appear to not be a more general Drupal issue.

Bit strange, not able to replicate my local install :(

There was an issue with blocks which is fixed in trunk and will be part of next release http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-3455
