where to find and how to activate translations

hi there,
I would like to have civicrm in german.
what do I have to do achieve this.
i was looking for documentation on this topic. if such exists, please point me to it.
sorry, if this sounds thick, but I am a python programmer and php agnostic ..

Hi robert

You need to  go to  Administer CiviCRM › Global Settings › Localization,

change the "Default Language".

Hey,

Before you switch the language (as described by Yashi), you'll need to install the language pack, as on this page.

Be aware that the German translation is not yet fully done! Some more work is awaiting you!
