civiMail on 2.1 - using the Save and Continue later option
August 28, 2008, 12:16:29 am
Hi - my testing suggests that if you 'Save and Continue' at Step 4 having put copy in both the Text and HTML (WYSIWYG editor version) boxes, then when I came back to the email it had dropped the content out of the HTML box.

I would note that in 2.0 we had the problem that if you stepped back from Step 4 to Step 3 we would also lose the copy out of HTML. That doesn't seem to be happening on 2.1 (good oh) or at least not with TINYMCE.

WOuld be great if the Save and Continue option could be fixed to hold the content for the HTML box.

Peter,

I couldn't reproduce it on http://sandbox.civicrm.org/, hitting Save & continue later on both step 3 or 4. Are you using most recent version of 2.1? If so, could you try to reproduce this problem on sandbox and file an issue if it persists?

Thx,
m

Hi M. I was on the Sandbox - see several test emails there including the one called something about Test Pause on Step 4 - I can see no copy in the HTML when there was some at the point i hit "Save and Continue".

Can you point me to a test email you have created and saved that has copy in the HTML so I can 'continue' it and see the copy?

Peter,

Sandbox database has been recreated to clean state in the mean time, so all the test mailings disappeared. I created new ones, they can be seen on http://sandbox.civicrm.org/civicrm/mailing/browse/unscheduled?scheduled=false&reset=1

Created two, clicking Save & Continue in step 3 and step 4 - for both, I can see the contents of HTML message field. Can you verify that?

In the meantime, I started thinking that it might be an issue with the browser - so if it persists, which one do you use?

Thx,
m

peterd :

I could replicate the issue (with uploaded files too) and have committed the changes to the code base.
It should be available to you in the next release :).

Thx

Using the HTML editor was available - FCKEditor - I have created a new email "PD test for Pause ..." and note that
- when I go to step 4 I can see my HTML, when I hit previous I cannot see my copy

I then reentered my copy, continued to Step 4 and hit Save and Continue Later

When I reopened the email the copy was there.

So my conclusion is that 'Save and Continue" works with FCKEditor but not with TinyMCE

Stepping back from Step 4 to Step 3 works with TinyMCE but not with FCKEditor.

This is using FF3
