FCKeditor usability on CiviMail pages
August 28, 2008, 01:48:03 pm
A couple of behaviours of the WYSIWYG editor in the CiviMail editor that are usability concerns with FCKeditor. Maybe these are known already or particular to my computer but my experience:

1) In Firefox, whenever <Enter> is pressed inside the HTML editor box, the browser vertical scroll bar jumps up so that the bottom of the cursor is aligned with the bottom of the browser page.  This cuts of the bottom part of the editor window from view, and browser scroll bar has to be manually corrected until the next <Enter>

2) FCKeditor menu did not appear in Safari.

I am not sure, but IMO this is more of a editor limitations?

This is already fixed in 2.1 branch and will be part of next tarball release.

Glad you've got 2) already.  :)

For 1), the <Enter> behaviour is a fairly significant annoyance and I'd be surprised if it was a necessary part of the FCKeditor. I'm not familiar with details on editors, but the glitchy behaviour isn't observed here for instance http://www.fckeditor.net/demo.

We have upgraded FCKeditor to latest release. '<Enter>' issue seemed be fixed.
