Members (as apposed to contacts) search/listing on front end
August 29, 2008, 01:36:12 am
Hi

We have a few hundred contacts of which about one hundred are members of our organization. We want to have a members only (as apposed to contacts) searchable/listing on the front end and also showing membership type. Is this possible?

Thanks in advance

I would create a Group for Members and use profile search feature: "Limit listings to a specific Group? ". So that only members will be listed.
If you using CiviMember for memberships. I don't think it will be possible to display membership type. But if you have just custom data for "Membership Type" , you can include that custom data in Profile and it will be available for profile search listing.

Thanks Kurund

i Found the 'Limit listings to a specific group?' bit and made my members part of a smart group, so that's fixed.

Yes I use "Membership Types" in CiviMember for my membership types, I think then if I make a smart group for each of the membership types, then a profile each, at least then they will be able to search/list each??

Sounds like a messy option, any better ideas?

thanks
m

You should also consider using Custom Search for this.: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Custom+Search+Components
