Birthdate changes when editing through a profile

Hello!
I'm using Joomla! 1.0.12 and CiviCRM 1.7.9379, with a database of near 700 contacts (individuals).
A person is making the data entry of the contacts through a profile which includes a birthdate field (built-in field of individuals) among many other.
The problem is the following: when this person searches for a contact, and chooses to edit it in the listing, the following page of profile always shows the birthdate as "Dec 31st 1969" if, and only if the original recorded date was before 1969. I've checked the table in the database, and the birthdate saved through the same profile in the datatable is correct. However, everytime you edit through this profile, the birthdate changes in the cited condition. Not to mention that, if you change any other field and forget to correct the birthdate, the new incorrect birthdate will be recorded in contact's info.
Please, anyone could give me a hand on this?

1. can u reproduce on http://demo.civicrm.org/drupal/ and if so please file an issue. (i suspect this will not reproduce on demo)

2. If memory serves me right, this is a problem with the date / time library (or libc) of your host operating system. I think we've seen this issue in the past (a long time ago). You might want to do some searches on the web to see if you can get more information and/or a workaround

Hi Donald,

I suppose you mean http://demo.civicrm.org/joomla .
I've tried to log in administrator page, in order to reproduce the problem, using user=demo, passw=demo, unsuccesfully. Did I miss something?

no i meant drupal :) (since access to joomla is restricted due to limitation with joomla and civicrm permissioning in joomla!)

Hello again, Lobo.

I tried to reproduce the problem in Drupal demo site, unfortunately I could not reproduce it. I created a profile called DateTest, with 2 fields, one of them a date birth, and everything went as it's supposed to go.
Checking my site, the problem of date change just happens when I go to the Edit page from listings; when I go to View page from listings, the date birth is ok.

Any other clue about it?

I'm 99% sure that this is a system related issue and your underlying system/libraries need to be upgraded. There is not a lot we can do about it :(

I'd probably recommend you try it out on another machine to make sure it is a system issue.
