Installer stuck on first page (2.1 Beta)

Hi, I just installed a fresh copy of Drupal 6.4 (everything went smoothly) and am now attempting to install a fresh copy of CiviCRM 2.1 Beta.

I got as far as entering the database info, click on install CiviCRM, and get to the first progress page, but it only gets as far as the first step:

Building database schema and setup files...

...where it sits, apparently forever. I know it says it can take "several minutes" but this seems pretty excessive, especially since I didn't include the sample data.

I know 2.1 is still in beta, but it seems odd that it wouldn't even install. Any suggestions? This is on a standard Linux/CentOS server.

Can you check your error logs? Also make sure you have CiviCRM recommended memory_limit and execution time.
