Upgrade path.. im confused..
September 02, 2008, 05:58:10 pm
Hi,
I have an existing 5.7drupal/1.9civicrm installation that we are upgrading. I created my upgrade point a month ago by installing the latest version of drupal (6.4) into my development space- as you were not ready at that point with an alpha version we deactivated civicrm until your beta would be released.

I am reading your latest upgrade information, and it looks to me that my month of work customizing the 6.4 drupal may be wasted and that to get 2.1 civicrm working with my old data I must first install 2.0.. but that requires 5.x drupal? I must go backwards in drupal before I can go forwards with civicrm? Is there another option? This seems very unfortunate.

a.. go back to original 5.7drupal/1.9civicrm
b.. install 2.0 civicrm
c.. port this data to dev environment
d.. install drupal 6.4
e.. upgrade 2.1 civicrm

... sad at lost month of work...

Did we at any point state that you can upgrade to Civi 2.1 from any version/combination of Civi/Drupal/Joomla? Note that Drupal and Joomla have had major release changes which Civi2.1 supports. Trying to merge older upgrades in the new code is possible, but i dont think its trivial.

You just need a vanilla drupal 5.x install with civicrm in 1.9 to upgrade CiviCRM to 2.0. It should not take too long to setup at a different url from your drupal6 url
