Using drupal 5 and the latest civicrm, I can now successfully create an event and also a group of custom fields.  I want them for a particular type of event, of which there will be many.  I want to be able to search participants' records, so I don't want to make a new group of custom fields for each new event of this type.

Here's the problem:

When I go to create a new event, it shows the custom fields already, and if any of them are "required," then I have to complete them while creating the event.  This creates new problems such as the fields already having been filled out when a user comes along. 

I'm probably missing something obvious.  Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
