Joomla, Groups, and CiviMail
September 04, 2008, 11:03:31 am
Hi folks,

The organization I am building a site for has many groups and subgroups, and within many of these they would like the ability to send out e-mails.  After a lot of research, I've found that CiviMail sends out e-mails to any specified group.  However, under Joomla, I cannot seem to figure out if there's a way to allow someone who is a group leader to only manage the groups and send mail to the others.  From what I read, these features are build into Drupal but have not been implemented in Joomla yet.  There has been some talk of possibly implementing these in CiviCRM 2.1 as well - has that happened?  Also, the site is still on Joomla 1.0, what features would be enabled in CiviCRM that only work in Joomla 1.5?

Thanks your help for all these questions.

Thanks,

Dan Ficker

1. there is no acl support in CiviCRM for joomla in 2.1 either. If your org wants it, you might want to consider funding it (or getting a groups of orgs together that want it and fund it together)

2. Check: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRM/CiviCRM+v2.1 for the 2.1 feature available with J 1.5

Lobo,

Does CiviCRM 2.0 have features that are not available to Joomla 1.0 users that are available in 1.5?

Thanks,

Dan
