FireFox 3 Ramifications with CiviCRM
September 04, 2008, 09:06:37 pm
I just upgraded to FireFox 3 and while I haven't found anything I could not work around, I thought I'd share some ramifications.

CiviCRM 1.9 - XP

First, we have to use FF instead of I.E. because version 6 of I.E. does not show the blue section bands in the advanced search and version 7 of I.E. does not allow us to reuse the html email with CiviMail - so we have been either using I.E. 7 for non CiviMail and everyone using CiviMail is using FF.

Just upgraded to FF3 and noticed the following:

(1) In CiviMail, on at least one mailing that we are reusing, when highlighting all the text in the html email, get a FF3 abend each time, even after rebooting before trying again.  Strangely, when we select the text from the bottom up, instead of the top down, we don't get the abend.  So far only tested on one PC with XP and FF3 - will report back as others move to FF3.

(2) The right side of the advanced search screen has always been cutoff somewhat when in 1024 x 768 resolution, but could see part of the search button with FF2.  With FF3 the search button after the blue section bars can not be seen at all and can not scroll to it with 1028 x 768.  Search button can be seen with 1152 x 864 or workaround for me is to leave at 1024 x 768 and just have faith and hit enter.

Hi - we just hacked the code to make the SEARCH button be the first thing on the left on the next line, instead of on the far right, as this was a problem for some IE users in an institutional system.

That would be great - care to share how you moved the search button?
