Newbie question: default field data

Sorry if this one is obvious, but before i launch in to creating custom data fields, is there somewhere I can see a list of the default fields that are already set up?

Hey,

If I understand well, you're looking for the list of built-in fields describing a contact, right? I don't think such list exists in for of separate document, but it's enough to go to contact adding/editing screen (3 times, for individual, organisation and household separately, since the sets differ slightly) and go through all the available fields.

Hi,
   Perhaps this is a litle too technical for what you are after, but just in case it will help I'll post it anyway. Take a look here: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/CiviCRM+ERD+2.0. This might be a little out of date as 2.1 is soon to be released.

Just to add to Cynthia's suggestion, reading ERD might not give full information, since some fields are "composite" and are not visible in ERD straight away (like current_employer for example). But of course, ERD is another source of info.

Thanks for the response. i'm working with Drupal 5.x and CiviCRM 2.05/6. I've read that 2.1 will demand Drupal 6. Is the full release imminent? Any idea of time-frame? Also, is there any information available about the benefits of 2.1? The project I'm working on may be worth delaying a little if the benefits are there?
