Newsletters going out in text format only

Hello everyone.

I'm relatively new to CiviCRM and have recently setup a CiviCRM instance for a client.

We've been experiencing an issue with the CiviMail component when sending out newsletters.  It seems that, no matter what preference is set within the contacts in the system, all newsletter messages are being sent out in plain text format.  We seem to be unable to get the HTML formatted messages to send.

Now, we've been scratching our heads on this one...so is there anything obvious we should look at in troubleshooting this?

Hey Lucas - and nice to have another kiwi around. So are you saying that after inputting an html version in Step 3, when you proceed to Step 4 you are (or are not) seeing the HTML version in the Preview section? If so, is it being delivered at the Test step or not?

Also check your email client if it is configured correctly to show html messages.

Good morning, everyone.

With Donald's help, I've managed to identify the problem and develop a work-around (for now).

It seems the culprit is the WYSIWYG editor itself.  For some reason, when using the editor to input or past content, no value is saved to the body_html field.  However, when we place the content into HTML files and upload it, the content displays properly. Apparently, in the forthcoming 2.1 release the editor has been replaced with two new options (FCKEditor or TinyMCE).

For now, though, our option is to use the upload function to enter in CiviMail content.

We eagerly anticipate the 2.1 release.  Hope this helps anyone who is experiencing the same issue. :)
