Create profile, where do I place the generated html form info?
September 07, 2008, 05:40:03 pm
I installed on J1.5.6, using civicrm-2.1-beta.3. Install was ok.  I am new to the civiCRM. I am creating a profile form for a registered logged in user, following  instructions for J1.5/administration I am at step 4. I have created an HTML <form> file but don't know where to place it? OR? even if I need to? This step might be required for J1.0 but not J1.5?  I have created a menu item ~create profile~ and have a profile ID=74 saved, but I get an error when requesting the form:

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.
The requested Profile (gid=74) is disabled OR it is not configured to be used for 'Profile' listings in its Settings OR there is no Profile with that ID OR you do not have permission to access this profile. Please contact the site administrator if you need assistance.

Very likely I am not following directions carefully here or have not done a step correctly.  Please give me a little directions if possible on how to proceed.
thanks much,
PapaLion

otherwise this thing MIGHT? just be way kool when it fires off.

those are good hints on the error msg, thanks.  ? do I need to place the html code <forms> from step 3  somewhere? or on 1.5 is it already handled by identifying the fid=74?

Can you give a link to the instructions you're following? Info on creating menu links to Profile forms in Joomla is here:

Yes that is essentially the instructions.., I just posted again, same problem... IF? I have created a page with GID=# and this is an HTML form which was created in the process ... not a profile itself and then I ask the CivicRM link in a menu which is CiviCRM/Profile Create to use that form to make a profile... and it requests this GID# for the form, and I give it... why then does it tell me I have an error because I didn't ... out of thin air? ... somehow already create the profile... it is a circle, chicken egg thing.

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.
The requested Profile (gid=) is disabled, OR there is no Profile with that ID, OR a valid 'gid=' integer value is missing from the URL. Contact the site administrator if you need assistance.

I give it the ID# for the form, permissions are SuperAdmin,  Yes there is NO profile, that is zactlee what it supposed to create.
hmmm

Not sure we understand what you are trying to do.

You first need to create a profile at the backend (Administer CiviCRM >> Profiles).

Once a profile is created as administrator, you can expose the profile form in the front end using the below links. I would first work on getting a profile created and working as administrator. Once this is done, you can do the next step of exposing it in the front end

Just a quick note about the request profile error message

I was getting the "The requested Profile (gid=) is disabled" in Joomla, as Dave suggested I looked over the Documentation and my solution was to reset the profiles...

    * Navigate to the following URL to test a contact create/sign-up form:
      <site root>/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/profile/create&reset=1&gid=N
o replacing N with the ID of your Profile
