New User Question

Hi, I just found out about CiviCRM and it looks like it would be great for my group's use. I have a lot of reading to do but figured I would start with a core question on my needs. If this is in the wrong forum please let me know.

I head a volunteer nonprofit jobclub with a Drupal website. I am an old IT guy just getting my feet wet in web development so I may sound like an idiot for a while.  :)

On our club's website each member is required to post one or more resumes that are keyed to various categories of occupations they do. Likewise, authorized employers can use the same categories to post jobs and/or search the resume listings. We also have plans to use the website to keep track of any occupational training certificates each member may have or gain.

I am looking for any experience or suggestions on using CiviCRM for this kind of organization/website.

Based on the brief description, you shoudl be able to do what you want by configuring CiviCRM Profiles (forms) where your members can enter and maintain their occupation info / resume... and where employers can search and retrieve selected info about your members:
