Drupal Member as CiviCRM Organizational Member
September 12, 2008, 03:16:26 pm
We have a membership site and want to allow people to join the organization as Organizational members. But the process for doing so which includes creating a new Drupal account forces the new member data to be inserted as an Individual Member even though all the fields we're using are for an Organization. So, the data gets confused. Is there a way of doing this without having a 2 step process?

2.1 addresses this issue where an Individual signs up for a membership "on behalf of an organization". You might want to test drive this on our demo machine and ensure it meets your needs and file any bug reports before we have a 2.1 final release

Except we're on Drupal 5. So that won't help until all the other modules used are 6 compatible. Close, but not quite yet.

So, needing this functionality we made some changes to the site, upgraded to Drupal 6.x and then CiviCRM 2.1. But we have the same issue. It's possible I did not explain the problem clearly.  Or perhaps we are not understanding how to set this up so an individual joins "on behalf of an Organization".

Hey, I see you'll be at BADCamp this weekend. Maybe I can get some personal help!

OK. I think we have it figured out. This does work now that we have it configured properly.
