Using CiviCRM for to allow User to email Contact
September 13, 2008, 06:11:30 pm
I am using CiviCRM to display on a public page a table containing members of a particular group.  I am using the "force=1&search=0" commands to display the group a a list.  I would like to be able to do two things:

1.  Add a "Send email to Contact" button or link for each member (i.e., row) in the table
2.  After hitting the button or link, the user would be sent to a contact form which, when submitted, would send the user's email to the contact address contained in the CiviCRM database.

I am trying to avoid displaying the actual email address of each Contact to the user.

I am using Joomla 1.5.6 and CiviCRM 2.1 Beta3.

This may be a stretch for CiviCRM, but I though I would ask.

Thanks for any insights.

this is not possible with a default config, but quite easy with some code / extensions to profiles. if you are a developer and familiar with php/mysql/civicrm/joomla code, ping us on irc (http://embed.mibbit.com/?server=irc.freenode.net&channel=%23civicrm&forcePrompt=true) and we can point u in the right direction

That's encouraging.  I wouldn't call myself a developer at this point but am trying to learn.  Once I get a little more up to speed, I'll be sure to contact the group.

Thanks for your reply.
