Other payment processors
September 15, 2008, 03:58:17 am
Hi,

I notice that credit cards are the only online payment instrument. Where I am (South Africa) credit card payments are rare - most people prefer direct bank deposit with proof or EFT.  There is also a movement towards cellphone payments.

There is an EFT provider in South Africa called payfast.co.za that effectively handles the EFT in a similar way to credit cards so I guess my question is - Does anyone know the steps I should go about setting this up in CiviCRM.

Also jumpingbean.co.za have developed a Setcom (www.setcom.com) plugin for Drupal's ecommerce component as none of the major payment gateways support ZAR(Rand). Any chance that we may be able to include this into Civi?

Thanks

Rob Allen

This will require changes to the core code base. We'd need to add EFT related form fields (or repurpose and relabel the credit card fields). You can catch us on IRC to get started on this

You'll need to modify the drupal plugin to fit Civi's payment api. Most of the work is probably already done. Some old notes on how to do this are here:
http://www.idealso.com/civicrm/AUTHORIZENET_NOTES. The procedure is a wee bit different, but u can see lots of examples in: CRM/Core/Payment/*

I would ask your payment processor if they have a URL for a emulator of some sort.

I have the same problem here in the USA.  I'm using Omega Processing which isnt in the list but they have a Authorize.Net emulator of some sort so that all I have to do is enter their own URL in the "site Url' under the Authorize.Net Payment Processor config.
