Register Event Takes me to the Administer Login Page
September 15, 2008, 09:55:33 am
I have set up a simple event and for some reason when I view the even and click the registration link it takes me to the Administrator Login Page. I am using Joomla 1.5.

http://domainname/~autism/administrator/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/event/register&id=2&reset=1

I think it should be:
http://domainname/~autism/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/event/register&id=2&reset=1

but when I put that in and type my email and click continue I get this:

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.
Could not find valid Key

Return to home page.

Thanks for any info
Thom

Ok,
so I have spent a considerable amount of time trying to fix this.

I have a second setup that works fine and does not add "administrator" to the links.  I have checked through Joomla and Civicrm hoping to find something that was different.

Anyone have anything?

Thanks
Thom

I think you just need to configure your events for front-end. Check - http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Configuring+Front-end+Event+Info+and+Registration+in+Joomla%21+Sites

(Also plz update your profile /w setup info - civicrm, joomla, php .. version)

(I update my profile, my bad)

I have went through that page numerous times. It all goes well until I get to this:

Fixing Problems with Module Visibility
The visibility for Joomla modules are based on menu links (ItemID). Some CiviCRM forms exposed through the frontend will lose the url-based connection to their menu item as you navigate deeper into the form, and consequently any modules associated with that menu item will disappear. To work around this, create a new menu for link generating purposes, set it to the "Special" user or hide it in a non-visible module position. Then create a url menu item and enter the url of the page that experienced the disappearing modules. Return to your module settings and add this new menu link to the list of pages the module should be visible on.

Can this be explained differently by someone? It just doesn't seem to click.

Thanks again
Thom

If you have followed till "Joomla 1.5 Steps" that should bring a url to front-end sth like -
http://domainname/~autism/index.php?option=com_civicrm&Itemid=53

And as you go on with the wizard, on the next screen the url would be sth like -
http://domainname/~autism/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/contribute/transact&_qf_Confirm_display=true&qfKey= ecbd9c1073351a9588b0dd79fd8cbe9e

This means your wizard is perfectly working (and doesn't require admin login).

This needs to be done only when itemId url (http://domainname/~autism/index.php?option=com_civicrm&Itemid=53) doesn't take you to required screen i.e there is problem with url-mapping. In this case you can create a front-end url (i am not sure if steps are valid for joomla 1.5) without itemID sth like -
http://domainname/~autism/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/event/register&id=1&reset=1

Test drive mode works under the administrator section. It still has administrator in the url (never leaves the administration area like I am user).

Man this seams tougher than it should be.

I really appreciate your help!!!!

Thom

Here is each step (URL's)

http://63.76.55.80/~autism/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/event/register&reset=1&action=preview&id=2
Shows fee and continue

http://63.76.55.80/~autism/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/event/register&reset=1&action=preview&id=2
Shows event info and continue

Then to sandbox paypal

Deepak,
I don't understand. But either way here is where I stand.

I have a local copy of Joomla, CiviCrm and the one on the web server. They are both the same version.

The one on the local copy does not add administrator to the URL and the one on the web server does.

I don't know if that is Joomla adding it of CiviCrm. I have inserted it into the menu manager a dozen different ways and it still puts that administrator in the URL which basically forces anyone who would register for the event to be and administrator.

I hope that is what you are looking for.

Thanks
Thom

Not sure i can help you there.

Aren't you able to setup hard-coded url (without "administrator") on the front-end as suggested in the doc ?

I finally found it...... Yeah for me... lol

It appears that the baseurl in
civicrm.settings.php had administrator in it. Line 131.

I removed administrator and all is well... YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all of your help.
