Really Odd Import--Any Ideas What is Wrong?
September 19, 2008, 02:15:58 pm
I followed the instructions for importing data. Working from an excel file, I saved it in CSV format. In Drupal/CiviCRM, I followed the steps of identifying the file, labeling the fields and hit import.

It seemed to work. The notice was that I imported 906 records. No errors indicated.

However, when I went to look at "Find Contacts" and searched for all, only a handful of the downloaded files imported. The really weird thing--only people with names starting with an "A" imported (and the source file was not in alphabetical order.

What gives? How can I get people with names "B" to "Z" to show?

Ok, I realized after writing that the file was in Alphabetical Order. That said, no matter what I do, I can't get any records past the 57th record to import. I went through old posts and tried it in both Firefox and in MS Explorer. No increase in records...Oh darn....

 :P

Well, in absence of any guidance, I just threw my hands up, deleted the whole site and reloaded. That helped at least part of my problem, although I still have to cut up the data into baby sized bites.

Now I have other difficulties...

If possible, check your web-server (apache?) error logs to see if there are clues. I suspect your issue may be related to insufficient memory allocation for PHP (you can search on this forum for info on checking and increasing memory).

Oh no! I am so lost when it comes to server functions. I will prowl through my host's control panel, hopefully something will give me a clue.
