How to?
September 23, 2008, 10:26:28 am
hi.
i'm using joomla. i would like to know how can i accomplish this:
i want to be able to manually add payments to the database, so the user can see them in the front-end.
i've spent hours trying to build this but with no success - i can't figure out what to use and how? events or activities?
help is much appreciated..

also tried adding an activity, with the 'assigned to' option, yet the activity doesn't show on the contact's dashboard.

If you want to add "Activity" i would suggest to use Activity api.

Check http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Activity+APIs

so there isn't a ready solution for this? all i want is to be able to save multiple records per member, and display it on a table in the member's private area.

You can use "Import Activity" feature.

If what you're trying to do is allow a logged in "front-end" user to see a listing of their Contributions ... this should work:

From your Joomla Admin site >> Administer CiviCRM
* Make sure CiviContribute component is enabled
* Global Settings >> Site Preferences : Review the sections that are included in the "Contact Dashboard" (Contributions s/b checked at least)

Then follow these instructions to expose the Contact Dashboard to registered front-end users:
http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Configuring+Front-end+Contact+Dashboard+in+Joomla!+Sites

The Contributions section of the dashboard will display any "contributions (payments)" you've entered in the back-end interface. You can input contributions one at a time from each contacts "Contribution" tab or use Import Contributions from the CiviContribute menu.
