CiviCRM 2.1b5 - Include Profiles - can't change selection
September 24, 2008, 09:33:59 am
With Drupal 6.4, CiviCRM 2.1b5, I have some custom profiles.  I use two on each contribution page.  I select the two I want (top and bottom) and save them.  This has no effect - I can't change the included profiles.
Upon further experimentation, I find that some combinations work, others don't - for example I can use the two profiles I want but in the order B A instead of A B.
This has been present for me since 2.04 and the way I got it to work before was to recreate all the profiles and contribution pages from scratch and just by luck I got them all right.  Unfortunately the magic didn't survive the upgrade :(

Can you try to replicate this on http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org. If its working fine then this might be upgrade related issue.

I found out more information about this issue.  I believe the Order field of each Custom Data is being used when displaying the Profiles in order on the Contribution Page.  Therefore, as the user enters Data Groups at random, they are given increasing Order values.  When the user selects a Profile to go at the Top of the page, the actual order may be displayed in reverse.
The workaround is to check your Order values, and sort all them in such a way that the ones to go at the top of pages always have the lower value.
I have 11, 5 of which are always at the top, so I numbered the top ones 1-5 and the rest 6-11.

This still doesn't explain why I can't select some profiles.  I recently was not able to create new Profiles and include them in a Contribution Page at all.

I am getting a similar problem with 2.1.0. I have set two profiles on the Configure Contribution> Include Profiles page, (top of page and bottom of page) but when I try to remove the bottom-of-page profile it will not save the change. It is working OK in the demo site.
Any ideas please?

Edit - OOPS! maybe this is in the wrong place?

Is this on a new install or an upgrade? if an upgrade, you might need to examine the civicrm_uf_join table and potentially get rid of some duplicate entries (entity_table, entity_id) combinations for that contribition. if new install, would be great if u can reproduce on demo, so we can figure out whats causing it etc and fix it

thanx

This may have been caused by my having renamed the profile. I was able to remove it after deleting the profile.
