Fatal error - class CRM_Activity_DAO_Activity not found
September 25, 2008, 06:11:33 am
Hi gang, I just finished the install of 2.1beta5 with Joomla 1.5. I can access everything except CiviCRM Home and Activity. I get the following error:

Fatal error: Class 'CRM_Activity_DAO_Activity' not found in (omitted)/public_html/crm/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Activity/BAO/Activity.php on line 44

I can get into all the other sections of CiviCRM just fine it seems.

Any ideas appreciated. Thanks!

In creating an event, I got through the first screen but on continue received:

Fatal error: Class 'HTMLPurifier_ChildDef' not found in (omitted)/public_html/crm/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/packages/IDS/vendors/htmlpurifier/HTMLPurifier/ChildDef/Table.php on line 6

Now I'm wondering if I missed some files on install.

Can you use the latest release (that is beta6). IMO, a few activity related stuff got fixed in beta6.

Thanks Yashodha,

I'm wondering if some of the files didn't upload properly so I'm re-uploading everything. If that doesn't go, I'll try 6. Saw it online last night... I was just hours too early for it.

I'll give it a whirl. I had hoped to not re-upload all the files (takes me about 4hrs to upload decompressed).

If you use ftp client, sometimes few files are not uploaded. Its bit hard to track missing files :(
Ideally you should download civicrm on your server and then untar and install, but this is possible only if you have ssh access.

Ok Wow. Kurund and Yashodha, you helped me out big time.

Here's my story... downloaded beta5 and unpacked it to my local machine. Then I uploaded all the files, which averaged about 4hours (did it three freakin' times). Each time, there was something "funny" post install. Either it didn't install correctly or it installed but you could tell something wasn't right - like it installing but not displaying the version number in the components section. Or getting the class undefined errors.

My install was on a Bluehost server and hopefully this helps any of you other Bluehosters trying to do the same. I do not use SSH, but this worked great:

- download the .zip from CiviCRM site (this time I used the beta6)
- upload it to wherever.
- In Cpanel, go to file manager and select the .zip file. (gets around SSH)
- Extract it to the installer directory (omitted)/public_html/crm/administrator/components/com_installer/com_civicrm

Go to the Joomla installation section and point to the dir to install. Result was a clean install, no errors so far.

This took me about 20 minutes including writing this message. Thanks again all!
