Duplicate civicrm contact records

Hi,
civicrm: 1.9
drupal: 4.7

We are have more than 1000 contact records and it increases day by day.
We are getting duplicate contact records for some users. This seems to be due to our configuration of Drupal and CiviCRM memberships.
For those duplicate records we have a single drupal uid but two different
contact_id While only one contact_id against the user is shown up on civicrm_uf_match table. And the other contact_id can be found no where on the DB.
We have two separate database for drupal and civicrm.
Now, we need to remove those duplicate records.

have followed the thread on http://drupal.org/node/266262
Though it is for civicrm 1.8 yet we tried using this patch. However, it dint work for us.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

You could  use "Duplicate Contact Rules" link on "Administer CiviCRM" screen.

For dedupes in v2.1 (more powerful) visit - http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRM/Dedupe+Changes+for+CiviCRM+2.1, ( hope it initiates some thought towards upgrading to CiviCRM v2.1 )

Hi,
This is a hard one to put in words.Yet let me try.
We have a site where users register with us and then they have their own profile consisting of lots of information such as statement, artforms, account information etc. have a gallery where they can upload images etc.
Now, for some users we find duplicate records. If we look at these 2 records:
                first record has user profile with gallery
                second has crm record with no gallery
there are no options anywhere to merge these together without losing the images/artist statement...etc
which renders this dedupe useless to us!
Suggestion please.
