Joomla Component Installation without Wizard
September 28, 2008, 04:52:20 pm
Hi guys,

I have an issue installing a Joomla component called CiviCRM onto my joomla server because my hosting provider (Omnis) has the upload_max_filesize and max_execution_time settings in the php.ini capped at 16mb and 180 seconds.

So clearly put,
upload_max_filesize: 16mb:
max_execution_time: 180sec

The component I need to install called CiviCRM is 24mb and the php.ini file is in a super folder of the file-server so these settings are set for all of their customers and can not be edited in the php.ini file.  I guess they have it set to control bandwidth usage across the board.

That being said I need to install this on my Joomla server and I don't want to have to switch hosting servers because I would have to transfer everything on my Joomla server over, big pain in the neck plus registration with someone else like Go-Daddy and loosing $40 in hosting cost I've already paid.

I'm wondering if there is maybe a way to install this component by putting the files in place and editing some php file or something or whatever.  I just can't use the Install wizard because it times out and is blocked by the install size.
