Find contacts in a group that belongs to the family
September 29, 2008, 09:22:22 am
Hi!
I can't find the way to do this.

I have families belonging to groups.
And I have contacts with relationships to families, a custom relationship, not the standard one.

I'm trying to find contacts by group, is this possible?

In advanced search I check Contacts, one group, and the relationship. Doesn't work  :(

Or the only way is assign the contacts to groups?

Thanks a lot!

Diego

In advanced search u can ask for:

All contacts that belong to group(s) A B or C and have a relationship of type "My family custom relationship" with contact name 123 (optional)

Not sure what you are searching for? If the above is not working for you, can you please reproduce on our demo server and let us know what you are expecting and what you are getting

Also if advanced search does not meet your needs, you can write your own custom search

Hi Lobo!
Thank you very much for the quick reply.

I tried the demo without sucess. I added Alice Yadav home to Information Club group. This household have  4 or 5 members, some are "Household Member is" relationship.

Advanced search with Individual checked, Information group checked and Household Member is relationship selected doesn't yield any record.
Here is the answer:

No matches found for:
Contact Type - 'Individual' ...AND...
Member of Group IN Information Club ...AND...
Group Status - "Added" ...AND...
Household Member is relation_type_id

Thanks again!

what do you expect in the below search?

You added a household to the group and hence the search returns empty

Thanks again!

I want to do this:

Household X is member of Group 1
Individuals a, b, c have a relationship R1 to Household X, but no group.

If I search for individuals in Group 1 that have an R1 relationship, I want to a, b, c as the answer.

I hope it is clear. My objective is not need to asign individuals to groups, inherit the group from the household.

Regards,

Diego

You will need to implement a custom search for this. Check:

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Custom+Search+Components

for how to go about doing so
