Current 2.1 Mail Solutions for Hosted Server
October 02, 2008, 03:02:47 pm
I am using CiviCRM 2.1.beta4 with Joomla 1.5.7.  We want to be able to send emails to members -- of course!. :o)

Our hosting service is with IX Web Hosting.  Before I go down the path of paying for the UAS CiviSMTP service, I'd like to find out if it is possible to set up the solution with my current configuration.  Am I going to get into a lot of custom configuration and scripting?  I'd just like to know what I'm in for.  This could be extremely powerful for us.

I'm wondering if 2.1 addresses something new...the documentation may be for much earlier versions...I'm just getting confused which path to go down.

Please help.   I can provide more info if needed.

John

The documentation for CiviMail is current and applicable for 2.1. There have been no major changes in 2.1 with regard to CiviMail (some bug fixes)

A few changes are coming in 2.2, more on this in the blog posts in the next few weeks

Just curious, how many emails per hour does your hosted server allow.  I would prefer to be on a server that allows us to send out emails faster.

Anyone else have suggestions?

Thanks.
Dave
