Upgrading 2.0 to 2.1 on Joomla
October 04, 2008, 02:29:51 pm
Hi All,

I am trying to update existing installation of 2.0 to 2.1. When I use the Joomla Extension Manager it gives me the following error.
Code: [Select]

        * Component Install: Another Component is already using directory: "/home/content/f/t/p/ftpabcd/html/testcm/components/com_civicrm"
        * Component Install: Another Component is already using directory: "/home/content/f/t/p/ftpabcd/html/testcm/administrator/components/com_civicrm"

Which is correct because this is an upgrade and the directories are already there.

Can anyone help. Otherwise I may just stay at 2.0
Thanks
Rohit

Another confirmation.

It didn't work on another host. So, its not host specific. Of course while checking for the installation directory Joomla finds that there are already directories being used with the same name.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

If you not migrating joomla i.e you have CiviCRM v2.0 installed on Joomla v1.5.x -

1. You 'll need to uninstall civicrm v2.0. Note this step will not do anything to your civicrm database (to be safe make sure you have taken the backup).

2. Follow the instructions from Step 2 - http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Upgrade+Joomla+Sites+to+2.1
