Single vs. Household Memberships
October 05, 2008, 09:17:22 pm
1.0 I'm sure I've overlooked it.  I have set up an organization (our club's...really the only one...for now) and am setting up membership types.  I need to be able to know all dues-paying members.  They either pay $15 for an individual or $25 for a household membership.  How can I be able to call up ALL dues-paying members but still differentiate between the $15's and the $25's?  Of course, I need to associate (I guess through use of "households") those people that fall under the $25 "household" membership, right?

Can you help?

2.0 Also, would I also have membership types of "Elected Board Member", "Visitor" - mutually exclusive to dues-paying, etc. or would I simply "Tag" them as such?  ...Now that I look, it appears that "Groups" would suit this purpose very well - am I right?

I would create two membership types -
Individual  - $15
Household - $25
membership type 'll help you differentiate.

Yes.

Yes, groups make more sense if they are to be decided by admin. If members them-self are going to be deciding this during signup, better to use custom data and attach to sign-up page.

If those two are categories of membership and you want to treat them similarly to the other categories - it might make more sense to have them as membership types as well. Depends on how you intend to "assign" them. If they are assigned by you / admin staff - then they can be marked as having "Admin" visibility (not available for self-service signup).
