I have PHP 5.2.6, but CiviCRM thinks it's 4.4.9

I'm trying to do the auto-install of CiviCRM 2.1.0, but it's throwing an error, telling me I have PHP 4.4.9. The control panel for my hosted account clearly indicates that the server is running PHP 5.2.6.  Any ideas?  Can I do a manual installation somehow?

Thanks.

Can you check/verify what version does phpinfo() shows ?

I forgot about phpinfo.  It's 4.4.9.  ???  I'll talk with my web host and see why the control panel shows something different.

Thanks!
