Create custom menu item "new activity"
October 06, 2008, 08:02:09 am
I have created a new menu for a specific user group we'll call "sales". In this new menu I want to create a link to create a new CiviCRM activity. I would like to remove the shortcut menu but add the new activity link to my custom menu. I right click on the menu item "New Activity" from the shortcut menu and use that hyperlink in my new customer menu item. But the hyperlink now brings up the dashboard instead of the "New Activity" page. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!!

Check the actual URL that you are being directed to from your new menu item. It sounds like the parameters after the question mark are getting lost. This would be the case if you are using Drupal 5.x - which doesn't handle this properly in menu items with relative URLs. This is fixed in Drupal 6.x. For 5.x, one workaround is to use complete URLs.

Thanks!! You nailed it. In the database, the URL looked exactly like the way i entered it. Upon mouseover the new menu item, it showed that link but the link had been urlencoded.
I entered: civicrm/activity?action=add&reset=1&context=standalone
OnMouseOver: civicrm/activity%3Faction%3Dadd%2526reset%3D1%2526context%
