Cannot add contact - invalid country/province
October 07, 2008, 07:21:31 pm
Hi everyone.

I'm having difficulties with my new installation of drupal 5.9/civicrm 2.0.6.

I'm working on the installation part-time and had mainly paied attention to drupal for now.  Today I had to insert data in civicrm but I couldn't do any single contact.

I'm running a multi-homed setup.  The host works fine.  This mean that the host (wich will never be used for production) behave properly and provide proper country drop-down list.

Howerver the virtual domain doesn't seems to be able to access the country/province table.  Whenever I add a contact, he keeps telling my that the country and the province are invalid.
    *  Please select a valid State/Province name. ;
    *  Enter a valid country name.

The Country and Province fields are not the usual drop-down list.

I did :
 - create a new domain and adjuste the settings file accordingly.
 - Adjuste my ressource URL.

Default data's country entry are written as : 1228 (instead of a country name).

I don't know what else to look for.

Strange.  In fact if I try to search for contacts, none are found.

But I can manually reach a contact by specifying a properly forged URL :
  ?q=civicrm/contact/view&reset=1&cid=103

And I can reach a contact created under the host (another domain).

I guess I have done something horribly wrong but I failed to find out what exactly.

I ended up by creating a separate database and things are fine now.

I king of tricked the installer for that, but where it a way to manually create the database?  A sql file for example...
