how to allow anonymous AND authenticated users to sign up for Civi newsletter?
October 08, 2008, 11:20:45 am
I want to allow anonymous users as well as authenticated users as well as Civi members to sign up for email newsletters.

I've looked into Simplenews module as an alternative but would really prefer they all be in Civi contact database.

Any ideas?

Many thanks!

I think this is what You are looking for, if You use groups as newsletter :-)

yep that will do it. if it needs to be more complex eg you want names etc, you can just use a Profile, though this won't trigger an email sign-up confirmation.

It's not working, when I go to administer it, it displays a blank page.  I increased the memory for this vhost which did not help.  I see a patch.  In a patch, do I add the lines with a "+" and delete the lines with "-"?

(obviously I've never applied a drupal mod patch.

Thanks.

Starting with 2.1, if "Groups" are included as a field in a Profile AND they are Mailing List type groups with Public Visibility AND CiviMail is enabled... then an opt-in confirmation email will be sent to the user. This will work for both authenticated and anonymous users. For Drupal, the "access CiviMail subscribe/unsubscribe pages" permission must be enabled for those roles.

It doesn't matter to me if it's a link or on another page, so long as both anonymous and authenticated users can subscribe.  I would love it if I could keep is all in Civicrm.

Also, I am using Drupal 5.10 and CiviCRM 2.0.3.  I tried going to D 6 and Civi 2.1 but my host doesn't have php 5.2 yet.
