Mapping all contacts of one profile not working
October 13, 2008, 07:20:49 am
I'm using a fresh install of Drupal 6.5 and Civicrm 2.1

From the documentation (http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Linking+Profiles) I'm trying to show all my contacts in one googlemap as explained:
Quote
3. The url to map all contacts from that profile is: q=civicrm/profile?reset=1&gid=PID&force=1&map=1

Which I know that used to work with ver. 1.9 but apparently not with version 2.1 (I didn't test it on other versions)

The maps do show for the individual contacts, but is the general map the one that doesn't appear.

I checked also with the demo site:
http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/profile?gid=1&reset=1&force=1&map=1

Was this functionality removed or changed?

Thanks
Ilan

Update, (maybe the moderator should move this thread to a different forum, I guess it just became a normal case of support)

After looking around I noticed that there is a link to mapping all the contacts at the top of the listing, in the demo site points to:

http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/profile/map?map=1&gid=1&reset=1

So now we know it was changed on version 2.1 and the documentation needs updating :-)

In the demo site works fine but in my site doesn't, there is no error message or anything, just the empty space (and on the bottom does show the button of "done").

(If I click on the map link of any contact the map does show fine).

Any ideas?

I have no idea about your particular issue (as it works for us on the demo), but if you could update the right docs that would be great and most appreciated. :)

The problem was in one of the contact address (it contended a carrier return) and that's why it wasn't showing the map at all.

Regarding updating the documentation, I would do it, but I need some gidance:

The current link (the obsolete one) says:

q=civicrm/profile?reset=1&gid=PID&force=1&map=1

and for me in version 2.1 it worked with:

q=civicrm/profile/map?map=1&gid=PID&reset=1

I thought to arrange it to look similar to the original in the following way:

q=civicrm/profile/map?reset=1&gid=PID&map=1

I really don't understand what I'm doing so two questions:
a) is this OK ?
b) does it need the &force=1  ?

Is this something we could take care of in an automatic way (like replacing carrier returns with spaces before mapping it)? What was the exact problem?

Yes, the order of the query arguments doesn’t matter.

This is used by us to re-do a search, so it might be useful to keep this in the URL.
