Newbie question about customizing event registration screens
October 14, 2008, 02:03:10 pm
New to CiviCRM -- it appears very flexible.  Question: can you have more than one registration page (say, one for member organizations and another for vendors?) for the same event, and utilize the same payment processor (in our case, PayPal Web Standard)?

It looks like I can create standalone forms, but those appear to only call javascript...

It would be helpful if one could generate a test drive, save the form structure/content as a new template specific to a particular event, and then modify/format it...is that possible, and if so is there a particularly good resource on how? I've been doing a little digging, but am as yet not certain I can pull it off without a lot of custom programming -- something I'd like to avoid, if possible.

I would suggest using custom  templates is a solution :
check http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Customize+Built-in+and+Profile+Screens

But with that also you could NOT have more than one custom template per event page as of now.

thanks

You can copy an Event and modify it for your other audience. However each registration page will put participants in "it's own event". So you'll wind up with 2 sets of participants. This may or may not be much of a problem for you.

Yashodha Chaku -- I had hoped that would work, but as you point out it leaves me in the same position.  Thanks, tho. I appreciate the response.

Dave Greenberg  -- I think the end user will be OK with that; slight headache, but ultimately they have to track the financials through QuickBooks so they can easily apply the two sets of numbers to the correct, respective accounts.  It's not pretty in one sense, but otherwise elegant and straightforward.

Thank you both.  :)
