Bounce Processing stopped - how to restart ???

Hello,

All of our message logs have been showing email bounces as zero for several days now. This isn't realistic...
All other actions seem to be recorded correctly - opens, click-throughs, unsubscribes, et al.

What is it that controls the bounce processing ?? Could you suggest a good place to start looking in order to "restart" the bounces being recorded ??

It depends on what you use for CiviMail return channel processing. AMaViS? imap2soap?
