Custom Field 's Default Value not Defaulting in Actual Use
April 25, 2007, 09:12:45 am
Created "Recieve Newsletter" as a custom field, contact type individual. Set default value to "1". Added the field to a user registration/profile  profile. Radio buttons are empty both for "yes/no". Default isn't "sticking".

Not sure what to do. Searched forum, didn't find specific answer.

thank you

Doug Greenberg :)

Doug:

1. Reproduce this on demo.civicrm.org

2. If you can reproduce, file an issue with instructions on how to see the bug on demo.civicrm.org

thanx

I've come across what sounds like the same problem, or incorrect setup.

On the Drupal 3.4 demo site I've added myself as a contact:
http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/contact/view?reset=1&cid=9

I added a custom data set Chris0711 with one YesNo field called AChoice with a default of 0.
I created a profile Chris0711profile that uses this field.

When I go here, I expected No to set by default:
http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/profile/edit?reset=1&gid=10&id=9

What have I done wrong?

Chris

The defaults are more the "mysql" defaults. i.e. they only apply when an instance of the custom data set is created

OK.  The default shows if you create, eg:
http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/profile/create?reset=1&gid=10&id=9
But not if you edit, which is the functionality I want.
I guess I'll live without this, though it I'm sure it could theoretically be made to work as I expected.

Ta Chris
