Is there a way to customise the search result ?

Hi,

The default columns are not relevant in europe (well at least in my case ;). As we don't use things like state.
Is there a way to get rid of that column without having to change the template ?

(CRM/Contact/Form/Search/Basic.tpl)

Moreover, i'd like to add another column (the employer), that makes sense only for individuals contacts (obviously). Is there a way of adding them easily ?

You could use advanced search with search view for the profile with the fields you want to show.

Check http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Format+Advanced+Search+Result+Columns
for more info.

Hope that helps

Hi,

Thanks for the pointer, but the issue I want to address isn't to have a specific search "on the side", but to replace the main features (the basic search...)

As expected, the "normal" features are much more visible than the customised advanced searches. Would it be possible to replace the "normal" features by specific profile based onces ?

Now that I think about it, it would be great to be able to define what profile to use to replace the standard features.
For instance, setting a profile when you create a new individual, with just the right fields, another for the basic search results...

What do you think ?

(might be easier to override some templates, thinking loud)

1. any specific reason you dont want to customize the template (its quite a trivial change / modification)

2. the current employer (cached in organization_name) is not returned as part of the query. Modifying the code to return this is probably quite trivial. Catch me on IRC and i can help guide you through it

ultimately we need to allow folks to make such changes without hacking core. maybe a few more hooks to help solve this might help :)
