Community Contributions Directory
October 17, 2008, 12:34:15 pm
As has been mentioned on the blog, I've volunteered to build a directory of Community Contributed modules/components/enhancements/extensions to CiviCRM.

This is an evolution of the 'Code Snippets' section of the Documentation wiki:
  http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Code+Snippets+-+Integration+With+External+Applications+and+Services

...and is modeled after the same concept employed by the Ubercart project:
  http://www.ubercart.org/contrib

Essentially, the idea is to provide a centralized location for developers and end users to find add-ons for use of for code samples to assist with implementing CiviCRM's hooks and APIs.

I'm starting this thread to solicit feedback from the community and the development team about what features would be most useful in this sort of directory.

If you have modules or code to share with the community, please jump in and give input.

As of Friday 24 October we have our data integrity and repair tools developed well enough to solve practical problems.  It's probably time for at least an alpha distribution.  What are the arrangements for the forge?  The Ubercart forge seems to work well.

We currently dont have any plans of a community forge. Your current options are:

1. create a wiki page and attach code there (preferred)

2. Host it on dharmatech svn and point folks to that link.

3. Create a forum post and attach code there

4. create a google code account and check it in there

5. upload it to drupal cvs

We will consider creating a contributions repository in the near future

A wiki page has been created:

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Database+Troubleshooting+Tools

It's under administration, but the tools might also be useful to developers
