Missing "Profile" fields
October 18, 2008, 11:38:39 pm
Hello - I am a newbie using CiviCRM 2.1.beta 4 in joomla 1.5.7.
I tried to create a profile using the documentation guidelines, but found that I am missing fields:

Create Profile page:  Used For - user registration, view/edit user account
Limit listings to group, Add contacts to group
                            Redirect URL, Cancel Redirect URL
                             CAPTHCA, mapping and profile fieldset

Any ideas?

Also, does anyone know if it is possible to have front end users add an event or is it 100% back end.

Thanks. DB

can u check

http://joomla.demo.civicrm.org/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/uf/group&action=update&id=1

u need to click on Advanced Settings to see many of the options. Note that User Reg, View/Edit User Account are not applicable for Joomla and hence do not show up in a new Profile form

Where is "Advanced Settings"? (There is no such option on the create new profile page)  I'm having the same problem of missing options since upgrading from 2.0 to 2.1

Also my pre-form help and post-form help simply display a link to my home page (which is odd) and there is no way to enter any text in what I thought would be fields.  What's going on?

Found this from David Greenberg
Which seems to indicate the problem could be incorrect resource URL's in global settings.

However, I think I have the path right, so I'm wondering could I have a particular file missing in the install?

I'm also noticing other places where it looks like AJAX is broken, so something does seem to be amiss with my javascript.

Your best bet would be to install firebug (http://getfirebug.com/) and see why the ajax calls are failing

Advanced options is a closed tab on the settings page of a profile, check:

http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/uf/group?action=update&id=1

(scroll towards bottom of page)

Thanks, Lobo!

The problem turned out to be that my resource directory should not have been listed as:
  http://www.example.com/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/
(As suggested in the on screen prompt)

But
  http://www.example.com/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm

The difference being an extra / at the end.  Oh, how aggravating to spend 9 hours all on a "/" !

I recall a post about administering civiCRM being a headache . . . this sort of thing is why!

We fixed this issue in a early 1.x release. I tried reproducing it on the joomla demo and could not.

can u give it a shot?

http://joomla.demo.civicrm.org/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/setting&reset=1

note the resource url does not have a trailing slash
