why won't importing contributions = 0 work?
October 21, 2008, 08:07:30 am
I am trying to import donations and it fails on records who have donated 0.  Obviously, it is a second import after importing contacts.

Do I need to weed those out before trying to import donations?  Is this a bug or just the way it works?

Thanks.

I know.  I htought about it when I was writing it but here's what I am doing.  I have a spreadsheet of many member and their most recent payments.  Some have 0 and some and contibutions >0.

What you're saying is I should weed those out whose contribution = 0?

So members are basically Contacts ? So you can use Import Contact.

Here's my method to import the list of many MANY contacts and members.  The list contains BOTH in the same list.  I import them all as contacts.  I import the contributions with a different field mapping and I do the same for members.  If they have no member type, they are not imported as members.  I thought the contributions would be either 0 or null and that would be ok in the system but it spits it back indicating it is not.

So, form what I gather, the system is not capable of accepting a contribution of 0 and I need to weed them out beforehand.  That's fine, I just needed some quidance.

Many thanks.

Yes. Currently CiviCRM do not support import of Contribution with 0 amount.
