Formatting and bad data in import
October 23, 2008, 04:29:28 am
There are certain fields that the import seems to have set as default:required . I.E: Gender.
The data I am importing has pretty inconsistent data for things like Gender. Many records have none. The ones which do, have M/F which is just fine.
Where do I adjust the default import rules so that if I map that input column to Gender and it has no value, that it just skip?

Hi nimzie,
   We are running CiviCRM 2.1.1.

The values we have for Gender as specified in "Administer CiviCRM/Option Lists/Gender options" are: Male, Female and Transgender.
I created a test import file with 3 records: record 1 had gender=Female, record 2 had gender=Male and record 3 did not have a gender value. All 3 records were imported without issue. The first 2 records had the correct gender and the last record had no gender value at all.
I'm thinking that maybe the gender values in your import file do not exactly match the values that are specified in the Gender Options table.

If the above doesn't help it wold be helpful to know what version of CiviCRM you are running.

Cynthia
