Question on CiviCRM 2.1.beta4 installation on Joomla 1.5.7 re: amavis
October 23, 2008, 05:45:12 am
I had already installed Joomla and Civicrm and am attempting to configure Civimail.  I installed all the necessary modules but the instructions reference a config file 40-civimail in /etc/amavis/conf.d.  I do not have this file, and examples of it I have found on the web are for drupal, not joomla.  My questions are:
Where does the file come from?
Is it missing because I installed CiviCRM/Civimail before all the necessary modules were in place (like amavis)?
Where can I get a copy of this file, or do I need to scrap everything and reinstall everything, or is this simply a Beta bug?
If it's a Beta bug, how can I get around it and are there other such issues people have encountered?

Thank!

Piotr Szotkowski

You get that file from the same place you got the patched AMaViS – i.e., our repository: http://svn.civicrm.org/civicrm/branches/v2.1/tools/amavisd-new/

You need to adjust the file anyway, and you need to figure out the URL under which the extern/soap.php CiviCRM file is exposed in your WWW setup.

No – as well as AMaViS, this file is distributed separately (under the above URL).

That said, you might also be interested in beta-testing our new PHP-based CiviMail Processor, which we blogged about recently, have a separate thread for and have a new a wiki page with install instructions.
If you found the above helpful, please consider helping us in return – you can even steer CiviCRM’s future and help us extend CiviCRM in ways useful to you.

I'll take a loop at the new php version and give it a try...

Thanks,
