I'm running drupal 5 with civicrm 2.0.6 and using CiviContribute. We are a small organization with donors from about 120 countries. In order to let people donate from around the world we need to have lots of countries added to the localization section for countries and states found at (civicrm/admin/setting/localization). It works, but the problem is when people go to fill out the form they have TOO many options for state / province. We are getting complaints that their state or province aren't in the form. They are but by the time you get to Massachusetts or Texas you want to give up. Is there a way to change the contribution form to either: let the user fill in the state / province field of the Billing Name and Address section of the form, or: have the state / province fields automatically be filtered down to the relevant ones after the user selects the country?

Please let me know what my options are?

I'm not a javascript expert so I guess I will have to wait until the 2.x version. Any idea when it might be implemented?

In the meantime is there a way to override the state/province field in the billing address section of the contribution page? If I could replace it with a field that lets users type in their state/province that would alleviate the problem until the new version is ready.
