CiviCRM Archive and upgrading from V1.4?
October 27, 2008, 01:49:37 pm
I have suddenly been given the task of exhuming a 2 year old Drupal 4.6 + CiviCRM 1.4 system, with the intention of bringing it up to currently supported versions of both Drupal and CiviCRM.

So I have two questions:

1) Where can I find the archived versions of CiviCRM code, and especially documentation, for CiviCRM versions 1.4 through to current?

2) What is the shortest, valid, upgrade path from v1.4 to current?  Does any 2.x version know how to upgrade from any 1.x version, so I can skip all the intermediate v1.x versions (asked very hopefully)?

Thanks for any help or pointers to info!

Thanks very much for the pointer to the code tree.

Unfortunately, I don't see a documentation directory.

Where would I find the CiviCRM documentation
corresponding to versions 1.4, 1.5, ... etc?

we did not version the documentation in releases prior to 2.1. We are planning to version the documentation starting from 2.1

To get from 1.4  to 1.9 you don't need to "upgrade the code" - but rather run the DB upgrade SQL scripts in sequence. All of them are available here:
http://svn.civicrm.org/civicrm/branches/v1.9/sql/

Upgrades from 1.9 to 2.0 and 2.0 to 2.1 require code upgrades since the upgrades are run from PHP scripts. Instructions for both are available on the wiki in the Install section.
