"Permission Denied" Error on installation - Ubuntu/Apache/Joomla
October 28, 2008, 08:40:12 pm
Hello -

I am trying to install the latest CiviCRM on a LAMP server (Ubuntu Linux, Apache2, PHP 5, MySQL 5) with Joomla 1.5.  I follow the instructions in CiviCRM's install docs, but I get this error:

Code: [Select]
Warning: JInstallerComponent::require_once(/home/team4/public_html/joomla/administrator/components/com_civicrm/install.civicrm.php) [function.JInstallerComponent-require-once]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/team4/public_html/joomla/libraries/joomla/installer/adapters/component.php on line 268

Fatal error: JInstallerComponent::require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/team4/public_html/joomla/administrator/components/com_civicrm/install.civicrm.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in /home/team4/public_html/joomla/libraries/joomla/installer/adapters/component.php on line 268

I'm installing this on a server I administer, using apache2's userdir mod.  I don't know why I would be getting a permission denied error here...  Any ideas?

Can you make sure all the directories listed on "Help >> System Info >>  Directory Permissions" (in joomla backend) are writable and check.
